Cuvis joint

The Cuvis Joint;
CUVIS Joint, the world's first active robotic knee replacement system has dramatically upgraded the way joint replacement surgeries are being done.
India's leading orthopedic implant manufacturer Meril Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with South Korea-based Curexo Inc. has brought this technology to India and enhanced the quality of healthcare.
CUVIS Joint robot system is a CLASS 3 AUTOMATION ROBOT SURGICAL SYSTEM for artificial joint surgery which is capable of 3D pre-planning, virtual surgery, and precise cutting to provide accurate and precise surgery results.
As for the orthopedic surgeon, it is a user-friendly surgical robot equipped with the values of Innovation, Flexibility, and Ease of use, with the basic offering of accuracy and safety at its best.
Parts of THE CUVIS JOINT :
Planner
Main console
The robotic arm
The process of Cuvis Joint Knee Replacement surgery:
CT images
Conversion of CT image to a 3D model to create a surgical plan -
The setting of the correct axis between the hip bone and the shin bone
The Rotational setting of the bone
The implant selection
The virtual surgery to visualize the predicted outcome
The surgical process - The patient is attached to the Robot and registered by the surgeon. The bone-cutting, the implant placement, and the alignment are performed by the system.
The benefits of THE CUVIS JOINT :
Accurate bone measurements
Accurate joint space check
Thorough 3D model
Numerous cutting options are available ( Full / Partial ) and the cutting order can be modified
Numerous cutting speeds, with maximum of 50mm/sec
Sub-millimeter accuracy in cutting, positioning, and alignment
Optical tracking system
Cutting precision < 0.5mm
Positional accuracy < 1.0mm
Real-time monitoring - allows an emergency stop and freeze of the device and manual operation if needed
The Cuvis joint works on 4 core principles:
Simplicity
Flexibility
Accuracy
Safety
Since its launch on 13th December 2020, the joint replacement surgery team successfully led by Dr Chandrashekar from Bengaluru, has already completed 120+ knee replacement surgeries with CUVIS Joint.
CONCLUSION :
In drawing to a close, studies and research has shown that AI simulated robotic surgeries have a lot to offer as compared to conventional techniques. Treatment of Osteoarthritis using Knee replacement surgeries has a promising future in India.
