What Are the Benefits of Potassium Citrate?

Introduction:

Potassium is indispensable to the human body. It comes from a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. Over time, factors such as rapid urbanization, a fast-paced lifestyle, and disposable incomes have changed our diet. We rely heavily on ready-to-eat foods that are deficient in these minerals. As a result, the use of supplemental forms is now required.

Potassium citrate:

Due to its propensity to affect blood pressure, potassium is not a fortifying agent in the majority of foods, in contrast to micronutrients like calcium and vitamins (B, D). As a result, it is used in conjunction with other radicals.

The following are examples of popular potassium-based compounds:

  • Potassium chlorides

  • Potassium citrate

  • Potassium hydroxides

  • Potassium carbonates

What is potassium citrate?

  • This is the potassium salt of citric acid, also referred to as tri-potassium citrate.

  • It is a crystalline, white, hygroscopic powder.

  • It tastes salty and has no smell. It contains 38.3% potassium by mass.
